McDonald’s Easter menu for 2024 has hit its restaurants, and we were among the first to try the season’s sweet treats.
Launched on 13 March, the menu sees some favourites disappear — say goodbye (again) to the Big Tasty, the McSpicy x Frank’s RedHot, and the Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie — replaced by a range of new items for the Easter season.

There’s just one main meal item added, and that’s the McCrispy Deluxe. We’ve seen it before, back in the summer of 2023, but its return is welcome. It’s a twist on a popular item, adding hot and spicy mayo, caramelised onion and balsamic sauce, red onion rings, cheddar cheese, and a double helping of bacon to the regular McCrispy chicken sandwich. The price rises from £5.39 to £6.09 (at least at our local restaurant), but that 70p adds a lot of tasty ingredients.

You can get a side dish of halloumi fries, with four chunky sticks coated in a light batter and delivered with the appetising Rich Tomato Dip. They’re not cheap at £2.79, but they are tasty. It’s a shame they can’t be had as part of a meal, though, instead of the regular French Fries.
The much-loved (at least by me) Raspberry and White Chocolate pie has given way to a Hot Cross Bun pie. This takes on the same shape as the usual Hot Apple Pie, but the pastry case is spiced up with cinnamon. Bite into the £1.99 pie, and you’ll find a spiced fruit mix with a butter-flavour cream filling. It delivers everything it promises, with that unmistakable taste of Easter oozing out with every crunch, but the sweetness level has been turned up to 11.

The McFlurry gets an update with Galaxy Truffle Bunny chocolates added to the swirling ice cream. There are white and dark chocolate drops and chocolate bunny ears, topped with a Galaxy chocolate sauce. It sounds glorious, even at £2.19 (or £1.59 for the mini version), but the reality was a little disappointing. The presentation falls a long way short of McDonald’s beautiful menu photos
, and, frankly, there was little to separate this from the regular Galaxy McFlurry.

The Creme Egg McFlurry is back again, topped with chocolate pieces and a Creme Egg sauce that delivers the sweet, gooey flavour you expect.
The presentation of the limited-run Hot Cross Bun Latte was also rather substandard, but at least the flavours came through. I can’t think of anywhere else that has ever combined the Hot Cross Bun and a coffee, so McDonald’s might just have a first on its hands here. Get past the mush of cinnamon cream, hot cross bun syrup, and a sweet dusting on top, and you will get a sweet, enjoyable long latte. At £2.79, it’s an expensive coffee by McDonald’s standards, but still significantly cheaper than something like a caramel Macchiato at Starbucks.
Is it worth making a trip to McDonald’s to try the new Easter menu? Some of it will please, with the McCrispy Deluxe and Halloumi fries standing out. The pie is tasty, too, although a little sweeter than we might like. The rest? You won’t be missing out on much if you stick with your favourite menu items. If you do want them, then go quickly, as they’ll disappear in six weeks.
