Whether it’s lighting the BBQ, enjoying a nice cigar, or simply giving in to that nicotine habit, luxury lighters
can make the experience so much classier.
In the same way a Swiss watch makes the process of telling the time more than just a way to know where you are in the day, luxury lighters
make creating a flame so much more. Using exquisite materials and precision design, a proper luxury lighter makes the experience so much nicer than using that nasty disposable thing from the local shop.
We’ve teamed up with luxury lighter manufacturer S.T. Dupont of Paris
to look at their range of exquisitely crafted pieces and pick our five favourite designs:
LE GRAND SUNBURST BLUE LIGHTER
£1,140

This dark blue lighter is perfect for the man who doesn’t wish to show off but wants something subtle and timeless. We love the way the dark blue blends into the lighter blue. This sits towards the top of the range price-wise, but exclusive materials don’t come cheap.
HOOKED FUEG-O LIGHTER
£55

This lighter is at the more affordable end of the range. It’s got a nice simple shape and comes in a range of cool designs. We especially liked this flammable design, even if it’s a little on the nose! It’s also ultra-portable thanks to the ability to pop it on your key ring.
SLIM 7 BRUSHED GOLD LIGHTER
£160

This slim lighter is ideal for tight jeans or full pockets. It has a simple and classy aesthetic that’ll look great anywhere but especially good in formal situations where style and sophistication are of utmost importance.
CASINO POCKET COMPLICATION LIGHTER
£45,000

I know what you’re thinking; Are they really recommending a 45-grand lighter?! Well, yes. It’s not that we believe it offers great value or is the epitome of style. No, we simply think it’s damn cool. The design actually features a working roulette wheel. One driven by watch-like gears.
LIGNE 2 MICRODIAMOND HEAD PALLADIUM LIGHTER
£830
This last lighter is probably our favourite for two reasons. Firstly it just looks great. A simple, classy design that will last the test of time. Secondly, it’s made of palladium – the same stuff Tony Stark uses in Iron Man to fuel his Arc Reactor. That’s pretty cool!
