A change in season usually means a wardrobe shake-up as we set aside the thinner shirts and shorts in favour of something a little more warming. Autumn style often involves layering, which gives plenty of style flexibility and comfort, particularly during milder weather. Here are a few of our favourite layer-worthy autumn style pieces that will become wardrobe essentials from now until spring.
Henri Lloyd Golant Quarter Zip ribbed knit
£175
This classically styled knitwear brings warmth to your autumnal wardrobe. Made from 100% organic cotton, it not only keeps you cosy as the cool winds bite, but also has sustainable credentials, making it a great choice.
The crew neck features a quarter zip that makes it easy to get on and off, while still preventing gapping at the neck as you head out and about. The ribbing adds a lovely texture to the jumper, making it feel winter-worthy without being bulky.
Henri Lloyd’s Golant quarter zip ribbed knit, available in ecru or navy, is a bit of an investment at £175, but the timeless styling and quality materials mean it should be one that you’ll be able to wear and wash on repeat for many winters to come.

Henri Lloyd Bergen Gilet
£195
Henri Lloyd has delved back into its nautical roots to bring you this mid-layer gilet, made from Net Plus Ripstop fabric, which is 100% recycled fishing nets. It also features recycled PET filling, so keeping you warm doesn’t impact the earth.
Bergen Gilet makes an excellent mid-layer as the weather gets colder, but for warmer autumn days it works well over a jumper or long-sleeved shirt. The water-resistant coating is a bonus if you get caught in a spring shower, too.
It features two hand pockets and a good-sized breast pocket, so if you are wearing it without a top layer, you’ll have plenty of space to store your wallet, keys and phone.
This light-weight layer looks great, adding a touch of class to your winter wardrobe.
Weekend Offender Welch Cord Shirt
£100
The Welch Cord shirt makes a great autumn layer, adding warmth and texture without being too bulky. The cotton-based fabric has a velvety feel, making it comfortable to wear and giving the shirt a nice, casual vibe.
Featuring a chest pocket and classic cuffs, it can be worn tucked in or left out, depending on the look you’re going for. With little details like branded buttons and a branded tag at the hem, it’s Weekend Offender through and through, without needing to shout about it.
The Welch cord shirt is available in black or forest green, in sizes from XS through to XXXL, making it a great all-round option and an excellent addition to the Weekend Offender line-up.

Weekend Offender Saturday Graphic t-shirt
£40
If you want to give a pop of colour to your wardrobe this season, a Weekend Offender graphic t-shirt is a cost-effective option. We chose to pair the Saturday Graphic t-shirt in Calcium with the Welch cord shirt and loved the look.
The word ‘Weekend’ is emblazoned across the chest, with each letter made up of colourful graphics that stand out well against the cream-coloured t-shirt. The t-shirt material is a good weight for the autumn/winter season, and will work well as a base layer for you to build your style upon.
For a more impactful look, choose the Saturday Graphic t-shirt in black, where the colour-filled letters leap out even more strongly.
The North Face Men’s Hike Utility Wind Jacket
£145
Before the real winter weather sets in, a lighter, more versatile outer jacket is a great option. It can cover a lot of seasonal bases, from autumn through to spring. TNF’s Hike Utility Wind Jacket is lightweight and windproof, giving plenty of protection from autumnal gusts and spring showers.
Made with Flash Dry materials and finished with DWR water-repellent technology, you’ll be kept warm and dry whether you’re out for a hike or just heading to meet friends.

Don’t let the title ‘utility’ fool you — made from recycled materials, this jacket is both stylish and functional, and with a slight stretch to the fabric, is comfortable to wear. With elasticated cuffs and an adjustable cord at the hem, the drafts will be kept at bay as the seasons change. The foldable hood is neatly stowed at the collar, and can be quickly unfolded if you’re caught in a shower.
This online exclusive jacket is an excellent layering option, with plenty of room for your base and mid-layers underneath. As it is so lightweight, it can be stashed in a bag until you need it, or worn without becoming tiresome — a win-win on those changeable days.
