If you’re taking part in Dry January after the excesses of the festive season, you might be finding that your will is fading a little by now. Don’t despair – there are alternatives out there that give you the flavours you crave, but minus the alcohol. Alcohol free beers and ciders are widely available, and with brewers nailing the flavours, you’ll hardly notice the difference.
Goram IPA Zero
12 x 330ml bottles £17
12 x 440ml cans £20
Goram IPA Zero was the first alcohol free options to be added to the lineup from Butcombe Brewing Co. The Bristol-based brewery has been producing beer since the 1970s, so it has a well-established base to work from.

Complete with all the bitter, hoppy, citrus vibes you’d expect from an IPA, this flavourful, fruity offering is now available in both 330ml bottles and 440ml cans.
The brew might be lacking the alcohol content, but it certainly isn’t lacking any flavour, so it’s an excellent choice for those looking to abstain or those left holding the car keys.
Tall Tales Pale Ale Zero
12 x 330ml bottles £17
If you’re looking for something a little more balanced and a smidge less bitter, you’ll be pleased to hear that Butcombe Brewing has expanded its alcohol free range to include Tall Tales Pale Ale Zero.

Bursting with the fruity flavours of citrus, with some tropical notes breaking through, this alcohol free beer will quench your thirst while providing that much-anticipated taste, rounded out by those gently familiar malty biscuit notes.
As well as being alcohol free, Tall Tales is vegan-friendly, low in calories and low in sugar, so it’s a winner all round!
Westons Stowford Press Low Alcohol Cider
8 x 500ml bottles £15
Cider fans will love this fruity little number from Stowford Press, which is part of the long-established Westons Cider family. It’s bright and crisp and will scratch that cider itch nicely.

With notes of honey and fragrant, floral apple blossom to add depth to the flavour, you’ll find just the right level of sweetness to gently balance the apples’ acidity. It might be a touch on the sweet side for some, but for us, it walks the fine line between being too sweet and too dry beautifully.
It’s easy to drink, refreshing, and while you’re unlikely to mistake it for a full-strength cider, you certainly won’t write it off as apple juice. Stowford Press Low Alcohol Cider is an excellent choice for Dry January and beyond, with cool pints beckoning as the warmth of the spring sunshine gradually returns.
