Leapmotor is gearing up to launch its new T03 electric city car, targeting drivers who want a blend of affordability, technology, and style. This compact EV comes with a 37.3kWh battery, offering a range of 165 miles. Its electric motor generates 95hp, making it well-suited for everyday urban driving. Priced at £15,995, the T03 provides a competitive option for those looking to switch to electric without breaking the bank.

The five-door, four-seater vehicle is compact but spacious, measuring 3,620mm in length, 1,652mm in width, and 1,577mm in height. The T03 has a wheelbase of 2,400mm, which contributes to its roomy interior. Passengers benefit from generous headroom, with 960mm in the rear and 950mm in the front. The car also features a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade, creating a bright and airy feel inside.

Technology plays a significant role in the T03. The driver interacts with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The system controls everything from infotainment to climate settings and navigation, with both manual and voice command options. The T03 is also compatible with the Leapmotor app, allowing owners to remotely control features like door locks and air conditioning. Without network connectivity, the Bluetooth key provides essential access functions.

Charging the T03 is flexible with Type 2 and CCS2 connectors. The onboard charger is rated at 6.6kW, while fast charging through a DC station brings the battery from 30% to 80% in just 36 minutes. Charging at home from 30% to 80% takes about 3.5 hours.

Regarding driving experience, the T03 offers three modes — Eco, Sports, and Standard. Eco mode focuses on efficiency by optimising regenerative braking, Sports mode provides quicker acceleration, and Standard mode strikes a balance between the two. The car has a MacPherson front suspension and a rear torsion bar system, delivering stable and comfortable handling on city streets and longer drives.

Safety is also a key selling point. The T03 includes Level 2 autonomous driving assistance (ADAS), which features technologies like Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking. It also boasts intelligent speed assistance, which can recognise speed limits and a drowsiness warning system that tracks driver fatigue using facial recognition. Blind Spot Detection and Door Opening Warning add extra layers of safety for both drivers and passengers.

Standard features include 15-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and electric windows. The interior is fitted with a multifunction synthetic leather steering wheel, an electric parking brake, and keyless start.
