Head anywhere in America, and you’ll drive past a Super 8 motel, which isn’t all that surprising when you consider it’s the largest budget hotel chain in the world. The Wyndham-owned chain has nearly 2,700 hotels, mainly in North America and China, with 10 in Germany and, until now, none in the UK.
The hotel company has teamed up with Roadchef — the motorway service station chain that operates 30 locations in the UK — for the first Super 8 location in the country, at Chester East services, rebranding the Days Inn hotel on the site just off the M56.
The firm says that ‘Super 8 is known for elevating the economy hotel experience, offering sleek accommodations and friendly service at an affordable price’, although experience in the US suggests that sleek might be overselling things. In fairness, the image supplied by Super 8 does look pretty good.
Wyndham
is “on a mission to elevate economy, modernizing the brand for the next generation of traveller” and is investing plenty into the rebranding, with the refurbishment of the 41-room hotel part of a larger multi-million investment by Roadchef as it looks to upgrade its roadside hotels across the UK to better meet the needs of guests now and in the future.
The Super 8 Hotel
The refreshed and rebranded hotel, now known as Super 8 by Wyndham Chester East, is expected to open this month. Influenced by the look and feel of new Super 8 hotels throughout North America with sleek furnishings and signature artwork, the first UK hotel also promises to provide the latest in-room tech, a stylish bar and restaurant, and on-site EV charging facilities, allowing guests to charge their vehicles overnight at an inclusive, affordable price.
The hotel will offer a variety of room types, with contemporary rooms to suit families, groups, couples or individuals, as well as two-bedroom accommodation with lounge areas and king bedrooms, in addition to standard double, twin and king guest rooms.
