If you’ve ever fancied wandering around inside the world of Forza Horizon rather than just driving through it on a screen, the British Motor Museum has something very much aimed at you.

The museum at Gaydon is teaming up with Xbox and Playground Games to launch a Forza Horizon 6 Experience this summer, turning part of the venue into a real-world celebration of cars, gaming and the whole Horizon Festival vibe. It opens on 23 May and runs through to the end of November.

Things kick off with a one-day launch event that should be great fun if you like your cars with a side order of noise and spectacle. The museum is promising Japanese performance cars, live music, street food, gaming vans and a drift stunt show from precision driver Tessa Whittock. There’ll also be family-friendly bits, including face painting and a Didi car arena for younger visitors.

After that, the exhibition sticks around as a longer-running display, with a line-up of cars that mixes genuine icons with some properly oddball favourites. That includes everything from a Nissan Skyline GT-R and Honda NSX-R to a Lancia Stratos, Subaru Impreza 22B STI, Jaguar C-X75, Ariel Atom 500 V8 and even the tiny Peel P50.

There’ll also be an Xbox play area with racing simulators, so visitors can jump into Forza Horizon 6 and either cruise around its new Japanese setting or have a go at setting a fast time. There’ll be prizes for the best drivers, too.

The launch event will also feature developers from Playground Games, plus Craig Duncan, head of Xbox Game Studios, while coding workshops from RobocodeUK are planned for anyone wanting to learn a bit more about how games are made.

Entry to the exhibition is included in normal museum admission (which tops out at £21 for an adult, with cheaper tickets available for children, concessions and for booking early), and it will be open daily from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm.

Early access to Forza Horizon 6 begins on 15 May, with the game launching globally on 19 May across Xbox platforms, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. PlayStation 5 versions will appear later this year.
