There are plenty of household chores that I hate, and vacuuming and mopping rank pretty high on that list. Handing those mundane tasks over to a robot seems only logical, so we tagged in the new X10 Pro Omni robot vacuum cleaner from Eufy.
Eufy X10 Pro Omni is an all-in-one vacuum and mopping system encapsulated in a puck-shaped robot body. It uses a laser navigation system — a Lidar system it calls AI.See — to create a map of your home to guide it during a cleaning cycle, identifying and avoiding objects in its path.

Unpacking Eufy is a reasonably hefty job, as the base station makes it quite chunky. However, when you consider what’s in it, that’s not too surprising. Standing at about the height and depth of a compact kitchen bin, the base station is not only the charging and mop-drying station for the vacuum but also houses reservoirs for clean and dirty water, with the dust-collecting vestibule clicked into the top. All are easy to lift out for emptying or filling as necessary, but when finding a permanent home for the unit, ensure there is enough space to remove them.
Setting up the X10 Pro Omni is fairly simple. Install the Eufy Clean app on your smartphone, and you can send it off to do a basic clean, as it maps your rooms and gets the lay of the land. A little manual finessing, such as telling it where the room thresholds are and giving each zone a name, and that’s all there is to it. You can also mark no-go areas that you don’t want it to clean, such as near stairwells or anything delicate you want to avoid.
The app account can be shared with others in the household so more than one person can program the cleaning. Alternatively, you can set up a scheduled cleaning time while you’re at work or even in bed.
Once the floors have been successfully mapped, cleaning becomes so much easier. Use the app to select which room you want cleaned, and the X10 Pro Omni will trundle around doing its thing until the task is finished. For a deep clean, you can turn up the suction power on carpets or increase the amount of water used on hard floors with the click of a button.
During a long or thorough cleaning cycle, the X10 Pro Omni will return to the base station to empty the dust — yes, it does that itself, too — and wash and blowdry the mops to freshen them up before heading out to continue the task.

If the cleaning cycle is unexpectedly interrupted for some reason, such as a rogue tissue being caught and blocking the brushes, as happened during our testing, the vacuum will stop and send an alert to your phone to let you know there is a problem. It’s an easy fix; remove the blockage and restart the clean in the app, and the X10 Pro Omni will pick up where it left off.
Using the technology onboard, the X10 Pro Omni can detect the type of floor it’s on and will vacuum or mop accordingly. We have a rug in the middle of our hard floor, and although the X10 does get caught on it occasionally, it can mostly transition between the floor types without a problem. The mops are lifted to keep them clear of any rug so no damp trails are dragged across it. It vacuums the rug, then once back on the hard floor, continues to mop.

The X10 Pro Omni uses exactly the same mapping process for the upper floor of the house, but you will need to ensure you select the correct map when you send it to clean. Just carry the vacuum unit upstairs and set it down. It’ll work out where it is in relation to the map and use that as the start and finish point.
There aren’t many negative points to the Eufy X10 Pro Omni. Okay, so the edge vacuuming could be a little closer, and the occasional tougher stain on the kitchen floor takes a few passes to fully clean, but overall, it does a darn good job.

The app does have its flaws, though. The basics are great, and setting it up is very easy, but if you want to modify things, it takes more navigating than it should due to the multiple menus, which aren’t entirely intuitive. Spend a little time poking around, and it makes a bit more sense, but when it takes a couple of relatively intelligent people a good five minutes to work out how to send the unit back to its charging station, I think that’s on the app, not us.
Eufy X10 Pro Omni robot vacuum cleaner is the household gadget I didn’t know I needed until I tried it. Its beauty is that it effortlessly maintains the cleanliness of the floors without being a burden on any one person. And our floors have never looked cleaner!
Now, if they could design one that could vacuum the stairs…
