The Dyson Air Multiplier is probably the coolest fan I’ve ever seen. Yes, it might also be the most expensive, but did I mention — it’s seriously cool?
We all know Dyson as the company that reinvented the vacuum cleaner, turning Simon Dyson (okay, Sir James Dyson) into a household name and one of the world’s most celebrated inventors. Then came the game-changing Dyson hand dryer, which still delivers the most fun and effective bathroom experience out there.
Now? Dyson has taken on the humble fan, and flipped it inside out. Meet the Dyson Air Multiplier, a desktop fan with a futuristic twist: it doesn’t look like it has any blades.
Wait… No Blades?
Well, not quite. The Air Multiplier is technically a “bladeless” fan, but the clever stuff happens inside the base. Hidden in the cylindrical stand are small fan blades that suck in air using the same principles found in Dyson’s vacuum cleaners. That air is then pushed up and out through a thin ring, creating a smooth, uninterrupted stream.
The result is not only visually impressive but functionally smart. There are no fast-spinning blades on display — safer for children, pets, and clumsy adults alike. The airflow is consistent and feels more natural than the choppy gusts of traditional fans.
So What’s the Catch?
Well, two things. First, the noise level is… noticeable. It’s not as loud as a vacuum, but it’s not whisper-quiet either. Second, the price: expect to pay upwards of £200, depending on the model. You could almost buy a Dyson vacuum for that.
But if you’re after the ultimate desk gadget, something to make your workspace feel like the future—this fan might just blow you away.
