Wearable sports and fitness tracker manufacturer Polar has announced the launch of a personalised Fitness Program, allowing users to stay active with adaptive, science-backed training plans.
The new service is a subscription-based program that offers tailored, fun workouts through heart rate-based cardio workouts adapted to each user’s recovery rate, goals, and lifestyle. Fitness Program is designed for long-term commitment, with 20 progressive levels tailored to different fitness abilities. It will undoubtedly prove to be a useful tool for those looking to build a balanced, effective training routine.
With decades of experience in wearable technology and sports science, Polar is confident that its Fitness Program, which is fully integrated into the Polar ecosystem, has a strong foundation which ensures each training plan is backed by accurate data gathered through Polar watches. This is coupled with proven methodologies and an understanding of how the body responds to exercise.
The result is an add-on that provides a more adaptive way to train for those users looking for something new. With clear, easy-to-follow support, Fitness Program fits effortlessly into weekly routines without requiring extra time commitment.
“We’ve listened closely to our community and built Fitness Program as a response to what they’ve told us they need”, said Polar’s Business Director of Services, Joonas Rajaniemi. “Validated by a six-month beta period, Fitness Program is here to empower that growing community that demands a solution that not only supports long-term commitment but also makes training more enjoyable and rewarding.”
The Fitness Program requires a monthly subscription of around £8.60 (€9.99), which is a departure from Polar Flow, a free platform that includes all the necessary tools to plan workouts and create training plans, as well as guidance on how to maintain fitness. With it, Polar users can track and analyse activity, recovery and sleep data via the web or a downloadable mobile app. They can follow any training plan—whether created by themselves, the Polar Running Program, the new Fitness Program, or imported from other platforms like TrainingPeaks.

The new Fitness Program service does not affect the development of the free Polar Flow service in any way, and Polar is actively working on improvements and will continue to roll out new features to all users.
So, with Polar Flow remaining free, why does Polar think users will switch to a paid-for subscription program? Personalisation is the key – many ready-made programs which are currently available are generic, while Fitness Program from Polar user’s the individual data gathered from the user’s Polar watch to deliver a tailored four-week training plan which is tuned to the user’s current physical condition, as determined their by heart rate, recovery insights, and sleep metrics.
Fitness Program automatically adapts based on training load and recovery status, suggesting lighter workouts to help prevent injury when needed and avoiding overtraining during periods of inadequate recovery. Weekly and monthly rewards boost motivation, keeping users engaged as they progress through their training plan.
To keep you engaged, Fitness Program will schedule cardio workouts as well as optional strength and mobility sessions. Workouts can be completed by integrating your favorite sports and activities, following the plan at your own pace by selecting preferred training and rest days. This flexibility means Fitness Program can easily fit into existing routines, making consistent training more manageable and enjoyable.
The subscription package provides full access to the program, along with all its features and benefits. Fitness Program is compatible with the full current line-up of Polar sports watches, and many past models and every Polar user with a compatible watch can try it free for 14 days.
Fitness Program is currently available for Android, with an iOS version to follow soon.
