Class Dismissed: Bianca Beauchamp

Career changes come in all shapes and sizes, but the path Bianca Beauchamp chose was as unexpected as they come.

Named after Mick Jagger’s daughter, Bianca Stéphanie Beauchamp was born in Montreal, Quebec, and initially set out on a far more traditional track. She studied French Literature and began training to become a teacher, working towards a career in the classroom.

That plan began to shift when she was introduced to photography and modelling, meeting photographer Martin Perreault at 18. What started as a creative outlet soon developed into something more serious, opening the door to a very different world.

By the late 1990s, Beauchamp had begun working in latex modelling — a distinctive, highly stylised niche that blends fashion, performance and alternative culture. Alongside Perreault, she launched ‘Latex Lair’, an early online platform dedicated to the genre, helping to bring that aesthetic to a wider audience at a time when the internet was still evolving.

Trying to balance both careers proved difficult. During her teaching internship at the Université du Québec à Montréal, her modelling work — including her website — came to light. The school’s reaction left little room for compromise, and she ultimately chose to close the site and continue her studies.

It didn’t last.

Faced with two very different futures, Beauchamp decided to step away from education and return to modelling, this time committing to it fully. It was a turning point that would define her career.

Over the following years, she became one of the most recognisable names in latex and alternative modelling, appearing in a range of international publications and building a significant following online. Her work has spanned editorial shoots, independent projects and collaborations, helping to shape the visual identity of a niche that has since grown into a global subculture.

Beyond modelling, she has also explored other creative avenues, including writing and on-screen appearances, offering a behind-the-scenes look at a career that sits well outside the mainstream.

Beauchamp’s story isn’t a typical one, but that’s precisely what makes it interesting. It’s less about shock value and more about choice — about recognising when one path no longer fits, and having the confidence to follow another.
