Calling all KFC fans — the fried chicken gurus have been cooking up more limited-edition combos for your enjoyment. The latest release
hit restaurants yesterday, and we headed over to taste test it — all in the name of good reporting, obviously! Introducing the limited edition Cheesy Melt Burger.
The Cheesy Melt Burger is exactly what you might imagine, but with more cheese. It combines the iconic KFC Original Recipe chicken with tangy onion chutney and crisp lettuce, all of which is topped with a slice of cheese and a crunchy hash brown. Alongside that comes a container of hot cheese sauce with the perfect consistency for pouring or dipping, whichever takes your fancy.

“With the Cheesy Melt, we are listening to our fans,” said Dani Ruggles, Marketing Manager for KFC UK & Ireland. “We know that right now, they’re not just going crazy for cheese, but cheese you can dip, dunk, and even pour exactly how you want. Our delicious Hot Cheese Sauce puts them in control of just how cheesy they want their meal to get.”
That all sounds great, but what you really want to know it does it taste good? We’re happy to report that as long as you love cheese and chicken, you’re unlikely to be disappointed. The flavour combination is a winner, with the spices in the chicken coating harmonising with the warm cheese, creating a mouthful to savour.
The onion chutney adds a much-needed hit of sweetness that cuts through the cheese sauce flavour, which, if you overload your burger with it – and who wouldn’t – comes dangerously close to being overwhelming.

The hash brown is a genius touch, as it not only works to create another surface for the cheese sauce to smear and cling to, but it also adds another taste-laden texture within the burger, keeping every mouthful interesting.
The only real problem is controlling the cheese as it oozes out of the bun with every bite. My advice would be to pour some of the sauce into the bun and then use the rest as a dip, or drizzle it onto the edge before each bite. That way, more of the delicious cheesy goodness will end up in your mouth and less of it on your shirt…

It isn’t cheap, though. At £7.99 for just the burger and cheese sauce, that’s a chunk more than some rivals, although they don’t feature the additional cheese sauce, of course. At my local KFC branch, the box meal, which includes a piece of chicken, fries and a drink, comes in at £12.99, which seems plenty, but for an indulgent treat, it was worth it.
The Cheesy Melt Burger will only be in restaurants until March 22nd, 2026, so don’t miss it.
