Boutique whisky brand Ferg & Harris has unveiled its first collection of 2024: five limited-edition single malt whiskies. Known for its innovative cask finishes, Ferg & Harris has explored the creative potential of wood finishes with this latest release, with distinctive results.
The lineup includes one Islay whisky and four Speyside expressions, sourced from Bunnahabhain, Craigellachie, Tormore, and Longmorn distilleries. Among them is a standout duo of ‘sister’ whiskies: a 15-Year-Old Craigellachie initially matured in an Amontillado Sherry butt, then split into Virgin Oak and White Port finishes. Both showcase the Craigellachie spirit’s sherry-driven warmth while delivering unique characteristics — one with toasted oats and creamy oak, the other with honey-roasted peanuts and buttery caramel.
Co-founder Alex Harrison described the process as “an element of alchemy,” adding that the interplay between aged whisky and exotic cask wood yields “sometimes unexpected but always incredible” results.
Other highlights include an 11-year-old Tormore (63.3% ABV) finished in Virgin Oak, bringing creamy vanilla and orange-ginger notes, and a 12-year-old Longmorn (58.8% ABV) with a White Port finish, offering candied strawberry and a brisk white chocolate finish. Fans of smoky whiskies may enjoy the 14-year-old Bunnahabhain (54.7% ABV), matured in a Sauternes barrique for a balance of sharp smokehouse aromas and maple-glazed bacon.
Each whisky is bottled at cask strength, making these small-batch releases particularly appealing to enthusiasts seeking bold flavours and distinctive profiles. The collection reflects the meticulous craftsmanship and adventurous spirit on which Ferg & Harris has built its reputation.
