The Lotus Evora: A 450-Unit Tease of What’s to Come

Lotus, the British sports car brand now under Proton’s ownership, just introduced the Evora at the Geneva Motor Show. This model is a bit of a “market tester,” with only 450 units planned for initial production. You can pick the Evora in classic Ardent Red or British Racing Green, but if you’re up for spending a little extra, other colour options are available, too.

Under the hood, the Evora features a mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 engine that pushes out 276 horsepower and 342 Nm of torque. It’s quick, hitting 62 mph in just over 5 seconds, with a top speed of more than 160 mph. Despite that power, it manages a reasonable 32mpg in fuel consumption on the official European cycle, with urban figures around 23mpg and extra-urban at 43mpg.

Inside, the Evora doesn’t skimp on style. It’s decked out in leather with a driver-centric design, featuring a sleek dashboard with blue LED-lit controls and stylish gauges. Standout features include Bi-Xenon headlights, an Alpine sound system, a reversing camera, and electric folding mirrors.

Looking ahead, Lotus has plans for a 2-seater, a convertible, and an automatic version of the Evora. Plus, the car comes with a 3-year or 100,000-km warranty and an 8-year chassis warranty for the EU, so it’s got you covered for a good while.

Prices start at £47,500 and seem to be pitched against the beloved Porsche. Deliveries begin in Europe by May.
