Geneva is always one of the best times of year and in 2019 there’s a whole lot to get excited about. Nothing will beat Bugatti’s one-off hypercar offering (the most expensive new car ever built), but Lamborghini’s new Aventador SVJ Roadster still deserves a gawp or three…
759bhp, 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds, 217mph max speed, and only 50kg heavier than the Nürburgring record-setting SVJ coupe. That’s just a few of the headlines behind the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster. And it should be enough to get your attention.
But there’s more. Lamborghini have replaced the car’s roof with some good old fashioned fresh air, which they say hasn’t affected aerodynamics. According to Lambo, downforce is even up by 40% when compared with the old Aventador SV Roadster.
That’s thanks to some nifty aero-vectoring wings that divert airflow across the car as you corner left and right. But if you want to go flat out, the new SVJ Roadster can hide its wings to reduce drag, which means it’ll manage 0-124mph in just 8.8 seconds. Woof.
Under the bonnet, there’s a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 which promises to produce one heck of a racket. Lambo says, “the high-mounted lightweight naked exhaust produces the most emotive sound from the SVJ Roadster’s engine, adding to the experience of the roadster’s occupants.” Which is a better way of saying it grunts like a lion.
800 example of the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster will go sale for around £380,000 and you’ll have 350 paintwork colours to choose from. Find out more over at the Lamborghini Website.
On the other side of the Geneva spectrum, Citroën have unveiled their vision for the future of urban exploration with the Ami One Concept electric vehicle – set to be operated by people without a driver’s licence.
