Sneakerbots Roll Out: Nike Transformers Trainers Land

Just when you thought the Transformers nostalgia train might be slowing down, Nike jumps aboard and floors it. In celebration of the latest Transformers movie, Nike has teamed up with Hasbro to release a limited-edition collection of basketball shoes inspired by everyone’s favourite shape-shifting robots. Think less “robots in disguise” and more “trainers in demand.”

Landing in select stores July (though let’s be honest, they’ll probably end up on eBay within the hour), the range includes three Transformer-themed designs: the Nike Zoom Flight Club (Megatron), the Zoom FP (Bumblebee), and the Sharkalaid (Soundwave). Sadly, none of them actually transform into a robot, or even a sock. Missed opportunity, Nike.

Each sneaker is packed with character-specific detailing. The Zoom Flight Club channels Megatron’s evil energy with black, red and purple hues, complete with a Decepticon logo across the ankle strap. The Zoom FP takes cues from Bumblebee’s iconic yellow car form, featuring a glossy yellow upper with chrome-inspired accents. Meanwhile, the Sharkalaid honours Soundwave, the villainous tape deck, with subtle retro graphics and a throwback Decepticon emblem.

Nike hasn’t skimped on the packaging either. The boxes mimic vintage Transformers toy packaging, with original Hasbro graphics, hanging display hooks, and those old-school decoder stats on the back. It’s the kind of attention to detail that will have collectors reaching for their wallets before the laces.

Expect prices to start at £100-ish, but good luck finding a pair outside of Asia or the US. You’ll need to act fast, and probably enlist a small army of Autobots to help out.
